Trial date set in murder case

By BRAD KELLAR
Herald-Banner Staff

A trial date has been set in the case of a local man, charged with murder involving a shooting death in Greenville last summer.

Andreas Tearri Morris of Greenville has remained in custody in the Hunt County Jail since his arrest last August and has pleaded not guilty in connection with the death last July of Cordarian Kelly, also of Greenville.

During a Friday afternoon hearing in the 196th District Court, Judge Joe Leonard scheduled a tentative final pretrial date for Oct. 30, with jury selection set for Nov. 3.

Kelly’s murder was one of three homicides recorded in Greenville during a single weekend.

On the afternoon of July 1, 2007, the Greenville Police Department received a call of a shooting victim in the 1800 block of Wellington Street. Officers found Kelly, 18, who had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
