Tea Party demonstration planned Friday

The Greenville Tea Party is scheduled to conduct a demonstration this evening at the corner of Wesley Street and Kari Lane this evening.
The demonstration is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
“We are going to re-delcare our independence,” said organizer Debbie McKee. “We are saying that we have had enough of our government encroaching on our life, liberty and property.”
Those wishing to demonstrate are encouraged to bring signs that focus on liberty and line up with current issues.
“Look around and realize how ‘not free’ we really are,” Mckee stated in a public service announcement. “I’m thinking health freedom is really important with the further socialization and nationalization of our healthcare system.”
McKee is emphasizing to those interested in demonstrating that it is a non partisan event, and signs should cause people to think, rather than to polarize current issues.
Demonstrators are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs and umbrellas.
Those seeking more information can contact McKee at 903-450-6648.
The Tea Party has organized several events in recent months, including a protest against excessive government spending in April and a sidewalk demonstration in downtown Greenville in May.
“I have received a lot of positive feedback about what we are doing,” said McKee. “People on our email list are sending updates to other people and it just seems to keep growing.”
