Wolfe City man killed in accident

WOLFE CITY A fatal accident claimed the life of a long-time Wolfe City resident Wednesday afternoon

According to Texas DPS officials, troopers were called to the scene of a one-vehicle accident on County Road 1006, west of State Highway 34 and south of Wolfe City, shortly before 2 p.m. The accident occurred at a creek bridge, where the driver’s Ford truck went off the side of the road, fell down a steep embankment and landed on its side.

Emergency workers spent approximately 20 minutes trying to extricate the driver.

Haskel Harris, 74, of Wolfe City, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Aaron Williams.

Harris was transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

DPS Trooper Alex Hunt is conducting an investigation on the incident.

Personnel with Hunt Regional EMS, Wolfe City Police Department and Celeste and Wolfe City volunteer fire department responded to the scene.
