The Greenville Intermediate School principal, who has been on paid administrative leave since April, has been given a current assignment, the district’s spokesman said.
Greenville Independent School District spokesman Brad Press said Principal Karen Jo Barrow has been assigned to help out at the district’s middle school this summer.
Barrow was placed on administrative leave in April pending a district investigation into alleged Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills testing protocol violations. The district submitted its findings to the Texas Education Agency in mid-April, though the findings of its investigation have not been made public.
“We have referred our findings to the state agency and are awaiting their response,” Press said, saying the district cannot release its findings.
However, while Barrow has been reinstated for the summer, Press said he could not comment on whether she would retain her old job at the Intermediate School, which will become the Sixth Grade Center in August.
“As far as what Karen Jo’s assignment is for the next school year, that falls under the area of personnel and it would not be appropriate to discuss at this time,” he said.
Barrow could not be reached for comment as of press time.
