Bonds reduced in intoxication manslaughter case

By BRAD KELLAR
Herald-Banner Staff

A Quinlan man has had his bonds on three counts of intoxication manslaughter reduced.

Eddie Dale Malone had received three indictments in connection with an accident which resulted in the deaths of three elderly Wills Point residents.

Malone was arrested last month in connection with the indictments and bond was set at $100,000 on each charge. Malone’s attorney had sought a reduction in the bonds and, following a Thursday morning hearing in the 196th District Court, the bonds were lowered to $5,000 each.

Malone was charged in connection with a head-on collision accident on the afternoon of Aug. 7, 2006, along FM 751 about four miles south of Highway 276.

Driver George Alvin Dillard; his wife, Flesta “Doris” Dillard; and Earnest Peters, all in their 70s and all of Wills Point, died as a result of the accident, the Dillards instantly and Peters later after being transported to Parkland Hospital of Dallas.

Malone, 49, has pleaded not guilty. Judge Joe Leonard has scheduled an interim hearing in the case for May 29.
