TxDOT: State Highway 66 to receive work

By BRAD KELLAR
Herald-Banner Staff

The main highway which passes through the Greenville Industrial Park is about to receive a significant upgrade, courtesy of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

State Highway 66 is scheduled to receive rebuilt shoulders. TxDOT officials recently awarded an almost $975,000 contract to D. L. Lennon Incorporated for the reconstruction of the shoulders along the highway between Farm-To-Market Road 1570 to U.S. Highway 69 in Greenville.

The work will involve grading, a lime treat subgrade, the removal of the existing base, the adding of a new base and a two-course surface treatment. The contractor was granted 45 days to complete the project. Barricades and project signs are scheduled to go up later this week, with an expected completion date in September.

TxDOT officials are urging motorists to observe signs and flaggers and to be aware of lane closers.

Those needing additional information about either project can contact the TxDOT Paris District Office at 903-455-2363.
