Five Hunt County employees will start meeting May 13 to study county employees’ salaries.
The five representatives — Jackie Ray, representing the administrators and supervisors, Melvin Abercrombie, representing the detention officers, Brian Alford, representing law enforcement, Brenda Cook, representing the finance personnel, and Herman Orange, representing the support staff — were selected by their peers following an internal ballot, Hunt County Administrative Assistant Katrina Pemberton told the Commissioners Court recently.
The Court then voted 5-0 to approve the committee selections.
The committee, which will meet officially for the first time 9 a.m. May 31, will study employee’s salaries from similar sized counties and make unbiased proposals and comparisons, Hunt County Judge John Horn has said. The findings should help the court make better decisions when it comes to setting salaries and giving raises, he has said.
Horn told commissioners that the salary committee’s findings will hopefully be ready by the 2009-10 budget period.
