The public is being invited downtown Tuesday, for a chance to meet Greenville’s new fire chief.
The City of Greenville has scheduled a reception for Raul Reyes, Jr., between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday inside the conference room of the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street.
The City Council confirmed Reyes as Chief during the April 22 meeting and his first day was Friday.
Reyes becomes Greenville third Fire Chief in the past five years, following up a long career which began in Houston.
“He comes to us with 26 years experience with the Houston Fire Department,” Alexander said.
Reyes began his career with the Houston Fire Department in 1977, as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic. He moved though the ranks serving as an Engineer from 1992 to 1994; Shift Captain from 1994 to 1995; Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Captain from 1995 to 2001; and Assistant Fire Chief from 2001 to 2004.
Prior to coming to Greenville, Reyes was serving as the Suppression and EMS Sector Supervisor.
