Two gas stations in Quinlan are the latest Hunt County businesses to have been found to have problems at the pump.
The two Quick Save stations, both owned by Kimora Inc., were found to be out of compliance during routine inspections earlier this month by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
A report issued Monday from the office of Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples said the Quick Save 1, 517 Highway 34 South in Quinlan and the Quick Save No. 2, at the corner of Highways 276 and 751, were inspected March 12.
The pumps at Quick Save 1 were found to be providing a “short measure in excess of tolerance”, according to the report. Consumers using the pump would not get all the gasoline or other fuel indicated by the pump.
The pumps at Quick Save No. 2 did not hold zero, according to the report, meaning the transactions did not begin or end with the pumps at zero dollars and/or zero gallons.
The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has 72 weights and measures inspectors throughout the state, checking more than 65,000 pumps per year. An inspector will place an “out of order” tag on any pumps not dispensing the correct amount of fuel within an allowable tolerance set by the agency.
The most recent inspection report covers the period between Jan. 24 and Monday.
The complete report can be found on the Texas Department of Agriculture Web site at www.tda.state.tx.us, under the “Public Information Reports” tab.
