Nearing deadline

Herald-Banner Staff

GREENVILLE — To the editor:

The deadline to file for city council is this Thursday, Feb. 28.

At the present time our city government is controlled by L-3 with a pro L-3 vote on all issues; 4 to 3. Our “city” is not represented when it comes to any issue dealing with L-3! It appears that L-3 has a candidate running in each of the two council seats coming up for election in May, James Evans and Tyson.

If either of the L-3 candidates is elected L-3 will have a 5-2 vote on anything our city does.  The “city” must retain control of those two seats on the council. L-3 will still have a 4-3 control for another year when we can again take back our city with non-L-3 supported candidates. Dan Perkins is an independent voice on the council and must be re-elected in Place 1!

Someone who resides in Place 2 needs to step up to the plate and run as an independent. The district lines have changed, now including Turtle Creek, River Oaks, the south side of Park St. and the Walworth area. Again the deadline for filing is 5 this Thursday, Feb. 28.
