To the editor:
More than just a building…
There have been many letters to the editor explaining all the reasons to support the YMCA project. Some of the benefits are the Event Center and the partnerships with GISD, PJC and the hospital. These are all good, but I believe there is another important reason that has not been mentioned.
The Y does not turn anyone away. This financial assistance helps put boys and girls in sports programs that allow for mentoring and encouraging from Y staff and coaches. I am glad to contribute my tax dollars to help others. Two dollars per month helps provide a larger facility that will be able to help even more children. For the cost of a large coffee, I can invest in future generations.
Families and adults will benefit, too. The Hope Center, relocated to the new Y, will provide more job training. This will not just impact families but our entire community. It is exciting to think about all the families that can be helped with a small contribution.
Proposition 2 is a great opportunity for us to provide a facility that benefits every single citizen. The election on May 11 is not just a vote to build a facility; it is also about helping others.

What is rescue all about?
Rescue is a calling for most people.
Who are we backing?
It is amazing that President Obama, who only five years ago was the staunch anti-war (and anti-Bush) freshman Senator from Illinois, is now whole-heartedly throwing his support behind Syrian rebels to topple the Assad regime.
A big thank you
A huge THANK YOU to the many people who stopped by our booth at Rally Round Greenville.
Top notch crew
On Saturday morning, Sept. 14, I had a TIA. I was sure that was what it was because my right arm felt like lead.
Thank you for your help
It just wouldn’t seem right for me not to submit a very heartfelt message to my friends and former colleagues at the Hunt County Courthouse after last weekend’s Rally ‘Round Greenville.
Medal finally awarded to Murphy
Governor Rick Perry this past week awarded the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor to America’s “most decorated” combat soldier of WWII Audie Murphy.
