To the editor:
What is wrong with this mayor and certain members of the city council? They can’t cough over $75,000 to fix the emergency warning sirens, but are asking to raise my property taxes to fund a $15,000,000 YMCA? What is wrong with you people? Do you need it spelled out to you?
The YMCA is a luxury; the emergency warning sirens are a necessity. If it is double the cost to fix the emergency warning sirens, then do it. This is the proper usage of property taxes, not subsidizing a private business.
This is not hard, folks; it is city government 101. I love kids and senior adults as much as the next person, and having emergency warning sirens will do more to preserve our kids’ and our memaws’ lives. Good grief!
