To the editor:
The last time Dan Perkins ran for city council I wrote a letter of support for his opponent. After the election I went to him and wanted to discuss it.
He invited me to lunch, and was very friendly and forgiving, and desired to know more about me and what he could do to represent me while he was on the council. We talked for well over an hour, and I was so very pleased by his attitude toward me, as he worked hard to resolve peacefully whatever differences we had.
Since that time he has answered my phone calls, replied to my emails, and has even asked my perspective on matters in which the council had to make tough decisions. He has welcomed questions I have had and has responded thoughtfully. At times Dan has had to search for an answer to a question I have had with regards to city affairs, but he has always called me back with an answer.
Dan Perkins is a servant, and rightly sees his role on the council as a representative of the citizens of Greenville. For these reasons I ask that the voters in Place 1 join me in voting for Dan Perkins for City Council on May 11.
