Answer to prayer

Herald-Banner Staff

GREENVILLE — To the editor:

The answer to many prayers, as we read the front page of the newspaper today, Aug. 12.  There were many people in prayer as the City Council gave approval to the Greenville homeless shelter.

The need is so great, we must support the homeless; they are our brother, our neighbor.

I awoke early, went to the gate, opened the newspaper. I said, “Oh, God, you have heard the many prayers.” I couldn’t read the newspaper it was so wet with tears.

I remembered the many prayers of Mother Teresa, the Catholic nun, as she traveled the world teaching love. She taught the world of love for the poor and needy. Her last prayer was “teach me love.”

The homeless shelter will go forth caring for our fellow man.

There will be food and shelter, training for a job, returning the homeless back into society.

There will be medical care, medication, caring for the homeless.

I’m proud to say, “We are on our way, with a homeless shelter.”

Truly yours,

Dorothy Poole
