GREENVILLE — To the editor:

Has there ever been a time, such as this, when our Constitution and civil liberties faced this much opposition? The days of Woodrow Wilson and FDR pale in comparison to the new Progressive Political Regime. A tyrannical administration that boldly slashes at the Constitution of the United States as they push their agenda. A Constitution that was meant to protect us, the American Citizens, is now deemed antiquated by the progressive Left. Who are these anti-Americans that now sit in power?

We have allowed this progression to our destruction by dumbing down our citizens. Through the rapid spread of the social media, Internet, and reality television, our society no longer seems to care about the future of this nation. The “All about me” generation is taking hold.

The progressive politicians use these tools to maximum effect, as our conservative leaders attempt to remake their platform. Caving into political pressure, the conservatives dilute their message and appear weak. Public perception seems based on a progressive media diatribe that attacks our Constitution, and our Bill of Rights. However, the media will defend the First Amendment with fervor. Of course, only the sections defending free press and free speech, you of religious faith are on your own. Seems that very few people know what the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, or the ideals of the founding fathers were about. People dwell more on their social media page, Pinterest, “honey boo boo,” to name a few, than on our fading liberties. Leaves me to wonder if the cult of personality that reigns in Washington can overshadow our will to defend the Constitution of the United States of America. Or is the Constitution and the United States of America something for the history books? An antiquated ideal ?
