— Christine Hoover Johnson, 87, of Greenville died Nov. 13, 2007, in Dallas.

She was born Nov. 24, 1919, in Frankfort, Ky., daughter of Robert and Stella Hoover. During her life she worked as a registered nurse. Mrs. Johnson was a loyal member of St. William Catholic Church and was active with the women’s Bible Study Group. She also loved doing volunteer work for the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library in Greenville.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Betty and husband Sonny Yates of Beech Island, S.C., and Carol and husband James Starr of Greenville; a brother, James Alvin Hoover of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, “Big Bill” William Johnson; three sisters, Nellie Roberts, Mary Alice Jones and Sylvia Mobley; a brother, Robert Scott Hoover; and two grandsons.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
