Jimmie Burchett
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”: Joshua 24:15.
Jimmie J. Burchett was born Aug. 27, 1930, to the humble and godly parentage of Joseph Allen and Retha Louise Dennington Burchett in Greenville. Jimmie married Gayle Shields on Feb. 11, 1955, in Greenvillee; she survives after 54 wonderful years.
Jimmie served in the U.S. Army from 1947-1950. He was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church and was a member of Mesquite Lodge 928, Scottish Rite, and Hella Shrine Temple. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and Lucent Technologies and had been a resident of Mesquite since 1956.
He was loved by so many. “Our loss is Heaven’s gain!”
One of 12 children, he is survived by two sisters, Betty Kennedy and husband Clarence of Rockwall and Bonnie Ligon of Forney; sons and daughters-in-law Jamey Chris Burchett and wife Jana of Forney, Jeffrey Dean Burchett and wife Deborah of North Little Rock, Ark., and Joel Jay Burchett of Mesquite.; four grandchildren, Jodi Burchett of Athens, Jake Burchett of Carrollton, Joseph and Marla Burchett and their mother Margaret of Forney; a huge number of nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.
He was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters.
The celebration service will be at noon Saturday at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Craig Christina, Tracy Dophied and Bryan Houser. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home. “To God be the Glory!”
