J.B. Minter

J.B. Minter, 71, died Oct. 31, 2009, in Garland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Royse City with Rev. Raymond Clayborn officiating. Burial will be in Royse City Cemetery.

A wake is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home in Greenville.

The son of Burnice and Birdy Wagoner Minter, he was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Cherokee County. He married Delores Mapps in 1971 in Garland.

Mr. Minter was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife; sons Jeffery (Veronica) White, Charles Minter and Michael (Jessica) Minter, all of Garland, and Robert Minter of Quinlan; daughters Wanda Minter of Athens, Dutchess Minter, Carolyn (Rufus) Edwards and Alysia (Michael) Jernigan, all of Dallas, and Mianna Parris Henderson; a sister, Thelma Murphy of Athens; 33 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; special niece and caregiver Lanita and Catherine Mapps; three special sons, Robert “Buster” Taylor, Drew Smith and Jeffery Arney; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

His parents and a sister, Geraldine Walker, preceded him in death.
