Barbara Fikes

Barbara Morgan Fikes, 77, of Royse City passed away Nov. 2, 2009.

She was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Royse City to Roy Allen Sr. and Ethyl (Ballard) Morgan. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a rural mail carrier for 24 years and then became a real estate broker and agent for 25 years. 

Barbara was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the P.T.A., and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. She was a founder of the Royse City Riding Club and enjoyed attending family activities and sporting events. Barbara worked hard all of her life, often holding down two or three jobs at once, as the family’s sole provider.

She is survived by her daughters, Valine Morgan and Lynn Lowry and husband Len; a son, Lee Fikes, DC, and wife Riva; grandchildren Cody, Austin and wife Courtney, Wesley and Katelyn Fikes, and Logan and fiancée Lorin LaPrade, Lacie, Lyndsie and Leah Lowry; sister Marguerite Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orlan Fikes; a son, Dale Fikes; and brother Roy Allen Morgan Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 900 Pullen Road, in Royse City. Interment will follow in Royse City Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel.
