Dorothy Cozine
Dorothy “Dot” Carolyn (Lewis) Cozine was born Dec. 9,1943, to the parentage of Iretha and George Lewis in Greenville.
She attended St. Paul and Carver High School. She worked as a nursing assistant for 30 years at the Harrison Home and several other nursing homes in Greenville. She was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church and served on the usher board until her health began to fail.
She departed this life on May 3, 2009, at her home in Dallas.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Kimetha Cozine Washington, Cassandra Kendricks (Leg), Lanora Brown and LaTonia Day (Zedrick); a son, Latwone Thrash; two sisters, Freddie Barrett (Kenneth) and Georgia Everett; one brother, Joe Lewis (Mary); 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends .
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Philbert Cozine; a grandson, Nathaniel Campbell; sisters Bonnie Mills and Mary Thrash; and a brother, Raymond Harris.
Her homegoing services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville with Rev. Michael A. Jolla as eulogist and Rev. Gerald Nelson as the officiant. Burial will follow in Grundy Memorial Park.
Visitation is today from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Grace & Mercy Funeral Home in Greenville.
