‘Beyond the Farthest Star’ puts Leonard, Celeste on the silver screen

‘Dramatic thriller’ will keep people on the edge of their seats, producer says

GREENVILLE — Hunt and Fannin County residents will get a chance this October to see their cities like they never have before: on the silver screen.

“Beyond the Farthest Star,” a movie written and directed by Andrew Librizzi and starring Cherami Leigh, Renee O’Connor and Todd Terry, was shot in Dallas, Hunt and Fannin counties.

Through Seatzy.com, “Beyond the Farthest Star” has a chance to be show at Majestic 12 in Greenville. According to producer Ben Robinson, individuals can register to purchase tickets online at Seatzy.com/Star, and once 500 tickets have been registered, the film will be shown at Majestic 12.

According to Robinson, 440 tickets have already been sold, and there is an Oct. 4 deadline to “lock-in” Majestic 12. Some of the film’s stars and the director plan to be at the Oct. 19 Greenville showing. The producer is also currently in talks with the management of Bel-Aire Sports Grill in Greenville to hold a meet-and-greet with the movie’s stars.

Rockwall’s Amber Carrington, who was a top five finalist on NBC’s singing competition The Voice, will make a cameo appearance in the film.

The film, which is rated PG-13, centers around a “broken family that moves into this sleepy little Texas town,” Robinson said. “This former senator burns a nativity scene on public property, and national news media descend on the little town. When they do, secrets about the family begin to come out, and it races toward the conclusion.”

The film focuses on themes of teen depression and cutting, issues that are prevalent in today’s society according to Robinson.

“The film is very strong, very intense,” he said. “It’s a drama, so women will like it, and guys will like it because it’s intense.”

A portion of tickets sold in Dallas County will benefit Restored Hope Ministries, a Dallas-based organization that seeks to “restore women and their children to normal lives who have been affected by the adverse conditions of life that include sex trafficking, slavery, abuse, poverty and interaction with the Criminal Justice System.”

$1 for every ticket sold for the Greenville theater will be donated to the Leonard Toys for Tots, a program dedicated to providing Christmas presents for underprivileged children.

“We shot the film back in 2010 in March, and the film is set in December,” Robinson said. "The people of Leonard just opened their doors to us, and they put back up their Christmas decorations for us. We heard that they needed some help this year with their Toys for Tots campaign.”
