Club news: Celeste Thursday Club, Hunt County Extension Education Association

Sandy Hurst presided at the day-long state programs and awards meeting and luncheon for Hunt County Extension Education Association in First Baptist Church, Caddo Mills. Barbara Johnson gave the devotional on “Simple Things,” and also conducted an installation of officers. They are Shirley Norris, chairman; Sandy Hurst, vice chairman of programs; Mary White, vice chairman of publicity; Cheryl Williams, vice chairman of membership; Leta Ayers, secretary; Pat Anderson, treasurer. Norris presented the programs “Raising a Reader” and “Protecting our National Resources.” Hurst presented “Cooking with Herbs” and “Talking with Your Doctor,” and Cheryl Williams gave “Gifts on a Dime and Connecting Generations.” Membership awards were presented to the following: Norma Ford, five years; Barbara Malone, 10 years; Kathy Self, 20 years; Shirley Norris and Hazel Turner, 25 years; and Mary White, 59 years. White was presented a Certified Volunteer Units award for 1,879 hours for this year.

CELESTE — Judy Hubbard and Lynda Lou Thorp hosted the recent meeting of the Celeste Thursday Club in the community room of Celeste First Bank. Gwen Schroth presided, and Sarah Andry gave the devotional on “Sharing.” Roll call was answered with an account of an interesting summer event. Mary Jane James reviewed the yearbook for this year’s meetings.
