GREENVILLE — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the Jacobia Water Supply Corporation to notify all of its customers to boil their water prior to consumption
Officials with the Jacobia Water Supply have been dealing with multiple leaks in the system since around 10 p.m. Monday.
The company indicated that as of this afternoon, water had been restored to two of the three affected areas. Water is expected to be restored to the remaining customers by the end of the day.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water fror drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for about two minutes.
The corporation's announcement indicated that in lieu of boiling, customers may purchase bottled water or obtain water from another suitable source.
Anyone with questions concerning the advisory can call the company at 903-454-3046 or the president at 903-455-1063.
