Local Easter egg hunts scheduled

GREENVILLE — Peter Cottontail and/or the Easter Bunny is about to be very busy, with multiple Easter egg hunts scheduled across the area, starting Friday.

— The Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum has scheduled the sixth annual Easter After Dark for 7:30 p.m. Friday. The event is designed as an Easter egg hunt for grown-ups, and is open to anyone 18 and older. Rather than just candy, the hunt on the Museum grounds at 600 Interstate 30 East in Greenville offers participants the opportunity to receive prizes, including gift cards and gift certificates all they way up to tickets to the Texas Motor Speedway NASCAR race in November. There will also be cash prizes, including one egg with $75. Cost for the hunt will be $8 for Museum members and those registering in advance, and $10 for non-members and those signing up the day of the event. Spots are limited, so those wishing to participate are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time. Participants should bring a flashlight, as well as something to store all their eggs. Tickets found inside the eggs will be redeemed for prizes inside the Museum.

— An Easter egg hunt for children up to 12 years of age is scheduled Saturday at Graham Park, 800 Walnut Street in Greenville. Hunts will be set for both 10 a.m. and noon and photos with the Easter Bunny will also be available.

— Westview United Methodist Church, 6407 Sayle Street in Greenville, has an Easter egg hunt scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

— The annual Eggstravaganza Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the City of Greenville, is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, April 19 on the softball fields inside the Greenville SportsPark at the corner of Sayle Street and Kari Lane/Leo Hackney Boulevard. There will be approximately 20,000 Easter eggs for children ages 11 and under.
